Our Program

The faculty and staff of Istrouma High School recognize the importance of providing and maintaining an educational environment which will ensure that all Istrouma High School students will develop certain insights, skills, and attitudes that will enable them to live a satisfying and productive life that contributes to the welfare of their community. This environment will be compatible with the realities and needs of society and will encourage the unified efforts of parents, community, and school.

Our ProgramA school improvement team is a group of individuals within a school community who look at data together to determine:

  • areas of instruction and school organization that need to be changed to improve student achievement
  • goals that will meet school needs
  • interventions that are needed to reach the goals
  • how to document improvement through student achievement
  • how to adjust the plan to improve results over time

Istrouma Policies
INDIAN NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

NATIONAL PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT DAY - IHS & PTSO will host an event to let parents know what's going on and suggest ways to fit schools in their busy schedule.  Begins at 6:30 with "coffee on the curb" for parents dropping off their children to school.  Contact Wanda Crump at 355-7701 for more information.

SENIOR LOCK-IN - November 13, 2009 Parent Informational begins at 6pm and Lock-In starts immediately after.

LOOP (LA Outdoor Outreach Program) & Lieutenant Governor Mitch Landrieu - Provides outdoor education/recreational programs, activities, with a hands-on approach to students. Students are encouraged to join this group.

Parent/Teacher Conferences - Held every Wednesday from 3:10-3:45.  Please call the school at 355-7701 to set up an appointment.
